What Is Psychodynamic Therapy, And How Can It Help Me?
Psychodynamic therapy is a powerful tool for knowing your emotional reactions and evaluating yourself. It is a therapy approach that gets to the root of your problems. We will focus on your symptoms and their meaning to understand the underlying causes.
The Core Concepts
This approach is built on the idea that our past experiences, particularly those from childhood, shape our current feelings and behaviors. Think of it like a river: the current issues you're facing are the surface ripples, but the deeper currents and unseen rocks below are what determine the water flow. We will explore the river of your mind and thoughts, to help you reflect and process the past. This will assist you to choose to respond differently, rather than simply react. This process leads to insight and meaningful change.
A Confidential Space
I understand that starting therapy can feel daunting. It is essential to find a therapy space, where you feel understood and can can build trust with the therapist. My practice is designed to provide that process for you.
My role is to help you see patterns in your relationship attachments and help you reflect on what is happening. The relationship between us—the therapist and client—is a key part of the work. It can become a reflection of your other relationships-this allows us to explore dynamics in a unique and contained way.
